Many might already be privy to this information, but it has come to my attention that the wonderful talents of Stephenie Meyer have been poached by another and posted on the internet. Worse still, Stephenie is fairly certain she knows who it was based on the copy and editing of the leaked novel Midnight Sun. Remember how tight security was for the Harry Potter novel seven Deathly Hallows? There’s a reason why authors of series and authors in general have to be careful, pirating is illegal and disheartening when it happens to you.
Stephenie writes,
So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn’t like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn’t dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.
I can certainly see her point, too! With bad tidings such as these you can’t help but commiserate with Stephenie who has nursed this baby to its complete fruition. We wouldn’t even have had to wait long to get Midnight Sun at her prolific writing pace. From myself and readers here at RRN, Stephenie we are so very sorry and you have our support. Should you ever decide to continue the story and get it published, I’ll be in line waiting to buy a copy.

Also, despite this terrible setback Stephenie was kind enough to provide her unfinished draft of Midnight Sun in response to those fans running off to search for the illegal copy. You can read it with a clear conscience now. The link to the partial draft is on her site or more directly in the link provided here.
Edit: Having read the partial draft (I just couldn’t help myself as I’ve been waiting for this novel with much anticipation) all I can say is, “WOW!” I want to read the whole story from Edward’s point of view - all four books. Edward fans will love Midnight Sun and end up begging for more… I’m desperate to read the rest of the unfinished novel. In spite of the leak, if Stephenie can get her morale up and finish writing the novel, she’s going to have a winner on her hands with MS. I would most definitely get this book.
