Natalie Fleming was briefly murdered by a deedub. She also owns a boutique chocolate shop. But she has a challenge ahead – creating magical desserts overnight after having her shop looted. She goes into her walk-in freezer and meets her murderer. Boy, that’s one hell of a way to start your day.

Nigel Aquarian comes to Natalie’s rescue. He’s a man with his own set of problems. He’s doing a favor for Natalie’s sister. What makes Nigel unique is that he has some interesting powers. Some of those powers are tied to his art.

Nigel is seen interacting with some other warriors in his penthouse. I love how Nigel talked to them about being “men”. I can almost hear the theme from Two and a Half Men playing in the background. Stephanie also has us laughing as they interact and makeup is added to the mix.

A lot of Stephanie’s male characters are obnoxious. But the women are the ones that seem to keep them in line. It’s nice to see that the hero needs a woman in order to feel complete. This is what adds romance to the story. If you’re looking for a lot of sex between our main characters, you will not find it here.

Stephanie certainly gives us some interesting sounding demons. None that you would want to meet in a dark alley somewhere. But if you could have any type of power, like Nigel and his men, what would you like?

As you read this book you may become a little confused. The three books look like they can be standalones but if you want to understand what the warriors, and demons, are about I suggest that you read books one and two.

Natalie is in need of some help and she will get it from an unlikely source, Ella Smithweiser. Ella used to work for Nigel’s archenemy. Nigel’s art is also turning against him so Ella becomes important for both of them.

Then to add confusion to the mix, another character appears – a dream genie named Charles Morgan. Don’t get confused but sometimes he is referred to as “Smutty”. His jailor also has a connection to Nigel. Mari is the second in command to the archenemy.

Mari thinks she has a noble cause but you know what they say about good intentions. The more I read about Mari, the more I feel that she is just plain crazy. What’s good about this story is that you will see that she gets her just desserts (sorry about the spoiler).

Stephanie also puts a life lesson in her story line although it doesn’t show itself until the end. The story ends with us wondering if there will be a book 4. She leaves us hanging in the balance – who will be the characters to have their story told next?

Review: I enjoyed the characters’ motivation (the driving force behind their every action), Hailey’s writing voice, and the potency of the love between the characters. As I’m reviewing a novel, I generally take notes. Next to favorite scenes, I’ll draw happy faces. Big ones. I’m not joking! At novel’s end-there were lots of happy faces.

Recommendations: Mega Mass-Appeal for Readers 18+

Evermine has elements that’ll appeal to a wide range of readers. First and foremost, it’ll speak to romance readers. The main characters have sacrificed so much for each other. And their love is both palpable and potent. What romance reader wouldn’t appreciate that in a story?

Secondly, the novel will call to fantasy readers. This story begins in a primary world (the Earthen Colony) and then moves to a secondary world (in the Askaran Realm). I suppose, this too will appeal to sci-fi lovers.

I’m now speaking to anyone with a weakness/fondness for damaged/scarred heroes. Oh-yeah! That sexy Evanti demon, Harper, will have you volunteering to lick every…single…one of his scars. Reader Beware: To get your tongue anywhere near him you’ll need to fight off an Askaran demoness named Emma, but it’ll be worth the fight. Now please stand behind me. I’m first in line!

Do you like the friends-to-lovers tropes? The hero and heroine are. Like dark secrets, do you? Harper has one that may or may not hinder his chance at love. Any paranormal readers out there? This novel has demons and magic users. And if you purchase a novel hoping it’ll give you a HFA, let me say, “Evermine's
happily-forever-after is profoundly touching.” The story will also charm anyone who’s ever wished star-crossed lovers a well-deserved happiness.

My Favorite Character: The Hero!

Harper is everything you’d want from a hero. He’s strong, sexy in his demonic form, and he’ll sacrifice everything for the love of “his” woman. He’s also passionate and he’s got wings. Not the angelic type, either. The leathery kind you’d expect from a demon. I love when they turn crimson when he’s aroused, when he uses them to fly, when they enfold Emmaline, and when he uses them to cover her like a blanket.

Favorite Scenes:

Scene #1: The tub scene. Oh-no! That’s all I’m divulging. You’ll have to savor that scene without my spoilers.

Scene # 2: Evanti males like Harper are claimed by their mates. Emma’s a half-breed Askaran demoness who doesn’t have the first clue how to claim him. I love when he enlightens her!

Scene # 3: An Askaran female’s in heat. And Harper reacts “strongly” to the pheromones she’s emitting. But she’s not the female he wants. Love how sexually intense he reacts around Emma. Especially what he says when he grips her thighs. Again, I’m not divulging!

Others in the Series: Everlong (Daughters of Askara, book one).

What’s Next? Book three in the series is titled, Eversworn. No release date, yet. Let’s hope it’s soon!

This is the second book in Wisdom’s Demon series and the first of hers I have read. The author has set up an open world for her story. The magical community isn’t hidden from the “mundanes” but they don’t really mix. There is an alternate dimension called Inlander’s Magical Plane where magical folk can live and shop.

Lili is a healing witch (doctor) that is searching for her best friend who has mysteriously disappeared while working at Crying Souls, a hospital for magical folk in San Francisco. She gets herself a job there to secretly investigate Sera’s and many others disappearance. What she finds is the disturbing treatment secretly taking place in the basement on the insane. One such patient is Jared, a smoke demon who is thought to be beyond help. Lili and Jared team up to uncover what is really going on down there.

I had a hard time finishing this book. It just didn’t hold my attention. The main and secondary characters didn’t have a lot of depth so I never felt invested in them. The author also wasn’t able to make me believe in the world she created. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the Lili and Jared. The deep connection between them seemed to come out of nowhere.

Lili has a talking cat, the reincarnation of Cleopatra who is supposed to be a source of humor, but the snarky cat’s comments seemed forced. The plot was straight forward and predictable. No surprises or twists. There were some secondary characters whose appearances didn’t do anything to move the story forward, just show what a nice people Lili and Jared are. They felt like story filler to me.

Based on other reviews of this book, I am pretty much alone in my opinion about this story <G>. Sometimes an author’s voice just calls to you and sometimes they don’t. This seems to be the case with me. I won’t stay away from this author’s other series, just this one.

You better grab the oven mitts before you try to pick up this book, it is smoking hot! This is the second book in Ione’s Lords of Deliverance series about the 4 horsemen (well, there is one woman) of the apocalypse. It is set in the same world as her Demonica Series. Many of the Demonica characters are also in the Deliverance books. If you haven’t read any of Ione’s books, don’t worry, you can jump right in and pick up on things pretty quick. I haven’t read the first book in the Deliverance series, wishing I had now because Ares sounds mouth watering, but it isn’t necessary.

The great thing about this author’s stories is all her lead characters/couples from past books of the series are still active in the story and she also starts setting up the storyline for the next book so you are already in love with the new couple and biting at the bit to read their story (smart lady <G>). The 4 horseman are siblings who were cursed. Their destiny is to bring about the apocalypse once they have all had their seals broken. They have spent their lives looking for their seals so they can keep them from breaking. They don’t want to turn evil. In the first book, Reseph had his seal broken and became Pestilence he is the villain of this book because he is now trying to make the rest of them turn. We got the story of Ares (would be war if his seal broke).

This book focuses on Limos, the only female horseman. She will become Famine when her seal breaks. As if that wasn’t enough she was betrothed to Satan (yes, that one) as a baby and now he wants to claim her. Limos was raised by demons and behaved like one for a long time. Telling lies gives her a high like no other. With the help of her brothers she turned her life around and things haven’t been so bad, but a smexy human named Arik kissed her and everything went to hell (literally) as all her lies catch up with her and she hurts the ones she loves the most. Mix in a love/hate storyline between an angel and demon that work against each other to help/hurt the horseman and the setting up of Thanatos’ story (who will become death, and I think he is going to be my favorite!) you get a whole lot angsty, kick ass action. Ione is also pretty good with the snark and adds just the right amount of humor.

This story/series is what you would call hard core PNR, lots of smut, cliché’ situations, high drama and emotional turmoil. Few do it better than Ione. This book has a lot of urban fantasy elements when you consider the extensive and ingenious world building going on. If you are a PNR fan then this is the author and series for you. For me to like a PNR book it has to be able to go that extra mile and impress me with tortured alpha men with that soft mushy center that only the right woman can touch, a unique twist, clever world building and yeah, lots of great sex. I think she went a little overboard with some of the clichéd PNR themes, but that is just a minor complaint. I will be reaching for Thanatos’ story because you don’t use and betray Death without consequences.

Please hold. Flip. Flip-flip. After a quick scan of my mental rolodex, Samael Gorasola is the baddest hero I’ve ever encountered. He’s sexy bad and you’ll hate loving him. Or is it, love hating him? Either way works!

Summary: That Old Black Magic, Book 4

Samael (Sam) Gorasola is a dirty-mouthed demon. He’s also sexy as sin and the reason the word bad originated. Sam doesn’t give a damn about anyone or anything. Crank open a thesaurus and all synonyms for bad and remorseless apply to him, specifically.

Gorasola’s a 103 year old demon with 78 years experience as a soul collector. It doesn’t surprise anyone he’s landed in a prison cell at the Demon Detainment Center. Samael is cognizant of his fate: he’ll never be happy. Life dealt him a bad deck and he’s just playing it out. Until wham bamming a white witch (Marabella Blanchard) gives him the wild card he never expected.

Review: Book four is as funny as the earlier installments and equally hot! I enjoyed every milli-second of Sam’s surliness. I’ve always been partial to the roguish rakes in historicals; it seems only natural I’d be just as enthralled with the paranormal baddies. There’s only one thing I would’ve altered, I’d’ve given less scene time to his cousins (Nikki and Cassidy). They were comical. I’ll give `em that, but I wanted more Sam and Marabella time. I’m going to have to give the author extra brownie points, though. She gave me what I wanted! The witch-familiar link.

Recommendations: For Adult Readers 18+

Because the hero doesn’t have a clue and the only thing he knows about romance is that it’s part of a two-worded title to a pop song, I’m recommending this novel to erotica readers first. Who else? Paranormal lovers. Why? There’s magick, angels, demons, and reapers in this story. I’m also recommending it to readers who like bad boy heroes. Samael’s entire DNA make-up is bad. And if you enjoy stories with scarred heroes, Sam is such a hero.

Favorite Characters: The hero and the old warlock.

The hero because he’s crude sexy, aggravating sexy, and broody hot.

The old warlock (Aster) because he’s funny. C’mon, he watches reruns of Days of our Death and is very chatty for a guy, uh, warlock.

Favorite Scenes:

Scene # 1: There’s a scene where Gorasola crashes through a window. Loved how the author wrote that scene!

Scene # 2: When Sam instructs Marabella to get on her knees.

Comedic Touches:

Comedic Touch # 1: Samael gives his bedding an oral onslaught it won’t soon forget. I’m still…laughing over that!

Comedic Touch # 2: The mixed metaphors were hilarious! And I’m going with Marabella as a hugel. (Sorry readers. I’m not spoiling!)

This is book 2 of the “Demons Unleashed” series.

Matthias Ambrose is a demon. He’s also a paid mercenary. His latest mission is to protect Serah, Seraphina, SanGermano from the Infernati. In his circle Serah is known as a Pure-Blood.

Serah is having problems at her catering business. It’s an ongoing issue that you will have to read to find out if the problems get taken care of. Does Matthias save her in the end? She’s a strong woman so maybe she is able to take care of herself.

Serah’s best friend, Lucia Anne Gregory, is half succubus and daughter to a Sexub King. Lucy’s fiancée, Rafael Deleon, has a connection to Matthias. We also see that Rafael doesn’t trust Matt. Now why would that be?

Serah wants to try out for a cooking show and Matt gets all “commando” on her. They go shopping and as they get to the mall, we see her two cats attach Matt. How many of you out there are able to talk to your cats telepathically? The shopping trip is interesting to say the least. I have to tell you, the way Sidney wrote the shopping scene made me wish that I was in Serah’s shoes. You definitely cannot miss this scene.

Matthias finds out that his old friend and mentor is also after Serah. She does ok for herself in knowing when demons are in the area. Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a little of that when our supervisors were entering the work area. But why would Serah need to know when they’re in the area - keep reading!

Matt tries something to get her to believe that she is more than just a mere human. Bad news is, it gets a little out of hand. But wouldn’t that be a normal reaction. It just doesn’t happen – it only happens in the stories that we read.

Sidney does a great job of keeping our attention. We want to know what’s going to happen next. If we don’t turn the page we’ll never know what happens next. She does a great job of describing the heat that pulses between her two main characters- can we say hot!

Then, Daniel Blackburn enters the picture. He’s got everything – a real hunk and his own TV series. You want to continue reading to find out what happens to the main characters. You don’t want to be half asleep when you’re reading this book.

Sidney certainly has a way with words. She puts the reader on a rollercoaster and as soon as we get to the top, she puts the breaks on. But you’ll have to keep reading in order to finish this great ride. As we finally come to the end of this ride you’ll say “ah”. Then you say, “when can we go again”.

This story is written in the first person.

We see that Faith Bettincourt and her friends are not exactly human. But she has a human job working in a hospital. She’s a charge nurse in the Children’s ICU unit. Her friend Lisa is a succubus who’s also a nurse. Faith is also the youngest daughter of the devil.

As you read, you’ll notice that as a succubus Lisa isn’t very good at it. If you’re a fan of the series Drop Dead Diva, you can almost picture April Browlby (character: Stacy Barrett) as Lisa – it seems to be a perfect fit. Lisa is just as “dippy” as Stacy is.

Faith isn’t your typical looking girl either – she’s a demon off the old block. She can also do some things that we can’t do like teleport from one place to another. She also has a crush on her next door neighbor, Matt. As you read, you will see that they start a relationship. But even Matt is not all that he seems.

Faith’s brother Tolliver is a major pain. He’s also the one that made Lisa into a succubus. But Faith is different from most demons – she has a conscience. Not your typical demon. Although Patricia has made all her characters different from what I thought they would be – in a good way.

Faith is coming out of a coffee shop and who should she bump into but none other than her sister, Hope. Hope isn’t any better than the brother. As I continue reading, I can definitely see the actors from “Drop Dead Diva” playing the characters in Patricia’s book. It would make a great Lifetime movie or series. I would definitely watch.

If I could cast the part of the devil, I would love to see Steve Martin in the part. For the mother, I could see Diane Keaton. And of course Faith would have to be Brooke Elliot (character: Jane Bingum). Jane’s demeanor would fit Faith’s perfectly.

Patricia also gives us some mystery and suspense. This is all a great mix. It’s what keeps us reading from the beginning of the story all the way to the end. You have no choice but to read the whole story – it’s that good. As I was reading, there were parts that I just had to laugh.

Don’t let the title of this story fool you. It’s definitely not a dark story with some sex thrown in. It’s a very funny tale with romance thrown into the mix. This is definitely a story that you may want to read more than once. I went into reading this thinking this would be a book to read around Halloween – boy was I wrong!

Summary: Book Two in That Old Black Magic Series

Clarissa Miles (head mistress of the Beaumont Coven house) is a little stressy lately. Seven years ago she sold her soul and now it’s collection time! Keeping up the everything’s-fine pretenses is starting to take its toll. And whoever said that every cloud has a silver lining wasn’t headed to Demonsville. Yes, time really does fly when you have only one week left to live.

So, what to do with seven days? Well, earth-shattering sex with her wolf familiar for one. But who is she kidding? It’s not meaningless sex if strong emotions are in play. The closer Logan Scott gets to her heart, the farther she’ll retreat. With no future to offer Scott, Clarissa will lie/deceive/pretend that his love is unrequited. Logan though, is about to teach his sexy witch a lesson. That even in the direst of circumstances, hope can still be found!

Review: The second book in That Old Black Magic series had more emotionally gripping conflict than the first novel, the freakiest antagonist I’ve encountered in like…ever, lots of scorchingly delicious sexual encounters, and a love that really does conquer all.

After reading The Seven Year Witch I felt as if I’d just returned from one hell of a trip. Talk about true escapism. An author that causes me to lose myself in a story-is my kind of author. I’m off! Book three’s calling. I hear it includes a sheriff (love those) and well, there’s more to him than meets the fin. Was that too corny? Lol. Let’s just say, book three has a real shark of a man. Reviewer laughs at her own joke.

Recommendations: Do you like bad boys? How about a werewolf who thinks he’s the be-all, end-all in bed because let’s face it…he really is! This novel is for readers who enjoy good vs. evil plots. Paranormal romance readers will be happy to hear there’s: several witches, a hot-as-sin werewolf, and an antagonist who’s really sinful. No. Really! We’re talking seven deadly sins here. The sexual intimacies are biting your bottom lip good! And if you enjoy love conquers all HEA romances, then this novel over qualifies.

Favorite Scenes:

Scene # 1: Three words: edible massage oil.

Scene # 2: When Logan is getting in touch with his, um, can’t say manhood. How `bout werehood!

Scene # 3: There’s a scene where Clarissa is at the top of a stairwell and Logan looks up at her. Time just stands still as their eyes meet. Loved that!

Scene # 4: When the author has all seven sins together in the same room.

Comedic Touch: Scott’s friends tease him because of his permanent erection state as of late.

A Tickle My Fantasy Story

Witches Anonymous novella series: Book one

Summary: Amy Evelyn Atwell, heroine, is adamant about turning over a new cauldron. She’s been an evil witch for far too long; which is one of the reasons she’s joined (WA) Witches Anonymous. Hopefully, she can resist Lucifer and stay on the straight and narrow. WA promises she’ll become a good witch in only 13 steps.

Unfortunately, she’s picked an inconvenient time to be good. Her hostility level is dangerously high. Well, wouldn’t yours be? She just found out her sister’s been sleeping with “her” boyfriend, Lucifer. So much for loving thy sister! And as an afterthought, a really nice guy.

Will sibling rivalry, the devil’s temptations, and her lustful desires send her back into Luc’s two-timing arms? Or will a higher power help her resist…her witchy side?

Review: Witches Anonymous was a cutesy good vs. evil novella. Ms. Evans presents a wonderful story concept with likeable characters. It was enjoyable to read the contrasts between Adam and Lucifer (the good guy vs. the opposing bad guy).

However, I kept hoping for examples of Amy’s malevolent past (she didn’t come across as evil). I also felt the novella needed just a little more momentum. With only minimal tweaking, this series is sure to grow into a hard-to-resist literary temptation.

Recommendations: Sure to tempt readers who enjoy light paranormal comedies, angels vs. demons stories, good vs. evil plots, and having to choose between a sinfully tempting bad boy vs. the equally appealing nice guy. Note: This novel does not contain sexual scenes. Two characters want to, but they don’t.

Favorite Character: Lucifer He’s sexy as sin! A walking, mouth-watering temptation. Like a Starbuck’s Birthday Cake Pop. Yummy!

I enjoyed the hell out of this book. I had my issues with the heroine, but the hero Iskander is so fun and delicious I was willing to over look any problems I had.

This is the 4th book in Jewel’s Witches series. I was worried I would be lost since I hadn’t read the first three, but the author does a good job of filling in any back story information and included a helpful glossary of terms in the beginning of the book. Like most PNR series, each book focuses on one couple’s storyline with some of the previous characters making an appearance. I loved just about every character I met in the unique and dark world Jewel has created. The characters from the previous books play an integral part in this story and now I want to know their stories too.

Iskander is a demon that works for the local Warlord as an assassin. He is good at what he does and doesn’t deal with humans much, unless he is having a one night stand with a woman. And he likes to have sex with human women <G>. It is his struggle to control his horn-dog behavior when he is around Paisley that makes him so endearing. I think his mind works like that of a dog in the “I want the bone, but no, I can’t take the bone, she will be mad, but I want the bone, maybe a little taste… NO, don’t touch the bone” way. I loved watching their relationship happen and the sex scenes were so sensual and smexy you will be panting!

Paisley’s character bothered me a little. Considering she had no idea demons, and magic users were real; she accepted it too readily. She isn’t the kick ass heroine I prefer, but Jewel created such an interesting world of demons and mages that I still enjoyed myself immensely.
