Get into Bed with Lydia Dare (Author Interview)

I’d like for us to extend a wolfish welcome to author Lydia Dare. Ready? On three, one…two…three…howl! My high- pierced howl shatters the whiskey glasses. Sorry Lydia, I was ready to offer those to the Westfield brothers. Let me just get new glasses. While I pour more whiskey for the men, can I offer you a cup of tea, or coffee perhaps?

Susan: How many whiskey bottles do the Westfield brothers consume the week leading up to the full moon?

Lydia: Whisky doesn’t have the same effect on Lycans as it does the average man.  It’s a little-known fact about the species.  Were you aware that they have a greater tolerance for spirits?

Susan: (This question is for Simon.) My hand trembles when I offer Simon his glass. Your Grace, how are you this evening? I hope he doesn’t overturn my coffee table; it’s been in my family for years.

Simon: Are you quite all right, Miss Susan?

Susan: One moment, please, Your Grace? (Susan walks out of the room to be certain the butler and two footmen are standing nearby, just in case the duke or one of his wolfish brothers wants to devour her.)

Benjamin: (Leans forward and whispers) Do you think she’s been drinking?

William: (Smiles slowly.) I certainly hope so.

Susan stands in the corridor and listens as William makes his comment, then sends the butler and footmen away.

Susan: My apologies, gentlemen. Where were we? (Her gaze rakes across Will, whose ears immediately perk up. Along with other things.)

Susan: (This question is for Ben.) Offering Benjamin his whiskey. You’re away in Scotland for most of A Certain Wolfish Charm—is there any way we can get you to tell us a little bit about what you were doing there?

Ben: (shifts a little uncomfortably in his seat and glances from one of his brothers to the next) Uh, nothing. Just visiting an old friend of mine. Nothing untoward in that, is there?

Will: (snorts loudly) Tell another one, won’t you?

Susan: (This question is for Will.) Offering William his glass. I’ve heard it rumored…oh, no don’t worry, not those rumors. I’ve heard your wolf is black furred and you’re blue eyed. (Saucy wink) Would you shift for me blue eyes?

Will: (Saucy winks back) What wouldn’t I do for you, my dear?

Susan: Do you have a special ritual when you’re writing? For example, do you post signs throughout your home that say, “Do not disturb, author has characters talking in her head!”

Lydia: My characters know better than to hold me hostage. The kids and dogs, on the other hand… they don’t pay quite as much attention when I tell them to get lost.

Susan: Lots of writers share a love for reading. What are your favorite sub-genres?

Lydia: Oh, I love all sorts of things. Mostly Historical Romance and Paranormal Romance, which was why I decided to merge my two favorite sub-genres when embarking on Westfield Wolves series.

Susan: Will there be other werewolf novels in your future?

Lydia: Yes, Susan, thanks for asking. I have a book hitting shelves in November with a very sexy werewolf (I whisper this next part, as to not upset Will. He and this particular wolf do NOT get along.) Dashiel Thorpe, the Earl of Brimsworth.

Susan: (Shameless self-promotion here) What would you like to say to readers?

Lydia:  I hope the readers enjoy the Westfields as much as I did their creation.  And that they love the series enough to hang around and meet the sexy vampyres that are in the witches’ futures.

Susan: Thank you Lydia, Your Grace, Lord William, and Lord Benjamin, for gracing us with your presence. Please come back and visit us here at Love Romance Passion anytime.

A CERTAIN WOLFISH CHARM by LYDIA DARE—IN STORES APRIL 2010!

He gets crankier and crankier as the moon gets full…

The rules of society can be beastly—especially when you’re a werewolf and it’s that irritating time of the month. Simon Westfield, the Duke of Blackmoor, is rich, powerful, and sinfully handsome, and has spent his entire life creating scandal and mayhem. It doesn’t help his wolfish temper at all that Miss Lily Rutledge seems not the least bit afraid of him, and in fact, may be as untamable as he is…

A woman whose charm is stronger that the moon…

When Lily’s beloved nephew’s behavior becomes inexplicably wild, she turns to Simon, the boy’s cousin and guardian, for help. But Simon’s idea of assistance is far different than hers, and Lily finds herself ensconced in his house and engaged to the rogue.

They both may have bitten off more than they can chew when each begins to discover the other’s darkest secrets…

Good morning Tammy, hi Jodie. Ben was visiting an old friend in Scotland, huh? (Snorts loudly.) Oh, my…that was very unlady like. I hope the inhabitants of Westfield Hall didn’t hear that. (What fun responses, ladies.) I’m looking forward to reading Dashiel’s story, can’t wait! :) In the interim, I’ll just daydream of the Westfield brothers; and re-read your books-of course!

Hi Susan, Careful mentioning Dashiel around William. There’s a bit of a story, there. I am really happy to see that your furniture survived the brothers. Thanks so much for having us!

Hi, Susan! Thanks for having us. (This is Jodie and I’m at the Spring Fling Conference outside Chicago) I’ll try to check in periodically, but I may not be as responsive as normal since I’ll be in workshops.

You didn’t believe Ben? LOL

I’ve never been so excited about a series since I started reading JR Ward’s Black Dagger, and Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters. I love these brothers here. I never want their story to end!

Wonderful post, ladies. I’m thinking of inviting the Westfield brothers to tea myself…and maybe serving crumpets. Or scones. Something for them to chew on would be essential as I’m not available.

Shoshana, Thanks so much for the comment! We’re glad you love the Westfield brothers. There are 7 books already contracted in this series so the brothers will be making some appearances later on, too. Don’t give up on them yet. :-)

Petrina, Whisky is a crowd-pleaser. ;-)
