Thank you for having me here today. I thought it might be nice to tell you a little about myself and my writing, just so you know who I am and what I do. My name is Kelly Ryan aka Sheri Velarde (I write mainly under the name of Kelly Ryan since I did not want my grandmother to come across some of my steamier titles and think it was autobiographical!) and I have managed to turn my love of romance and things that go bump in the night (pun intended) into a write career.
You see, I started my writing career off by writing paranormal romance, since I am a great lover of things that might not really exist. Seriously, I like to fancy myself an amateur cryptozoologist! That means I spend some vacation at lakes and such searching for monsters. Ok, it really is more like sitting with friends, having a drink and keeping a camera ready, but hey that counts as research! And you still get pretty photographs.
Anyways, as I was saying my romance writing career really took off with paranormal aspects being included in my stories. Vampires, shifters, zombies and ghosts, I have written about them all! And had fun doing it!
In order to keep my writing fresh though, I have also started to write in other areas of romance, like historical and mystery. Here I can combine my love for reading and research with my writing career. It has been said that I might have a bit of a book problem, my numerous to read piles pointed to as evidence. I like to take my fiancé’s approach though and say that I don’t have a book problem, I have a book solution. This is one of the many reasons I am marrying this man, he gets my addiction. My latest release, Taking Pleasure Where You Can, is a WW2 era story that took me out of my comfort zone in a good way and was directly linked to research and reading.
I live and write in New Mexico, with the constant support of my fiancé and our two dogs, Charlie and Eowyn. They are my fur babies and the cutest and most supportive dogs you have ever met! Here they are helping me work as I write in bed. See, very helpful and supportive!
When not found in front of my computer, you can find me reading, listening to live music (I am a huge heavy metal fan) and exercising to make up for all the sitting that the life of an author entails. If you would like to know more about me, you can find all about my writing and more at my website: www.sherivelarde.weebly.com.
Blurb: John never thought that he would be the same after Pearl Harbor, then he set eyes on Imee and everything changed.
Ever since Pearl Harbor, John had become a shell of a man, unable to move on from the trauma. When his captain forces him to take shore leave, a night out with the guys and one woman were about to change everything.
Joe seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed keen to be near him. It made it much easier for the quiet-by-nature and still healing John to slowly make some friends. Once the drinks started flowing, he even began to loosen up a bit. He missed hanging out with guys, telling stories, joking around, and laughing. His captain had been right; this was what he needed and what his friends who had passed on would want. He was beginning to feel alive again, and it felt good. Then he caught sight of her.
