Exclusively Yours is about reunited lovers. They are thrown together again when Keri Daniel’s boss finds out that famous reclusive author Joe Kowalski was her high school sweetheart and demands an exclusive interview. If Keri gets it, she gets a promotion. If she doesn’t, she’s fired.
For Joe, Keri is the one who got away. He always wanted to marry her but her disappearing act to the other side of the country after graduation made that dream impossible. Her flight put him in a huge and destructive depression for many years and now that she’s back he can’t help but want to extract a little vengeance.
She can get her interview, but only if she participates in the yearly Kowalski family tradition of camping for two weeks. (A horrifying experience for anyone. I can’t stand kids like that [they weren’t horrible little monsters but dang were they annoying] and there were so many of them. The mothers had my sympathy.)
There was a lot of side plots outside of the fanning of high school flames. Two other couples were going through rough times and their plights take up a lot of word count. Keri must also deal with Terry, who still holds a grudge against her from high school (which was a ‘wow, really, you can’t get over that?’ for me).
Overall it’s a cute contemporary that offers readers a romance not entirely lead focused, which depending on the reader can either be that breath of fresh air or something that frustrates you. I found that Stacy had plenty of room to flesh out and resolve both the main love story and the side stories.
