Review: Hero by Cheryl Brooks

Hero is book six in The Cat Star Chronicles.

I’ve totally read this series out of order. My only background prior to Hero was the first in the series, Slave. That didn’t stop me from getting what was going on real quick and honestly, you can pick this book up without having read even Slave. Brooks does a good job at explaining without telling and hooking you into the story.

Trag is the last known Zetithian male unmated and unbonded. If he had his choice, he knows who he’d want to be with for the rest of his life, but considering she’s his brother’s, Tychar’s soul mate [Rogue], it won’t ever happen. Terran women remind him of Kyra so he gets by with prostitutes, but since none of them are Kyra he’s kept everyone (by that he really means Jack [Slave]) off his back by saying he wants a Zetithian woman. He figures it’s a safe bet, because there are no surviving Zetithian women.

Or so he thought…

Micayla doesn’t yet know she’s Zetithian. All she knows is that she’s not Terran and that her sex drive seems to be nonexistent. A sore point if there ever was one, but there was nothing she could do to change that. Until she meets Trag, she’s never had an emotional response to a guy… but why oh why did she have to hiss at him? Why was she more tempted to bite him than to kiss him? The only unattached male of her species and the first thing she does is alienate him! Figures.

Trag is the hot desponded and depressed hero. It gets a little tiring toward the middle but that quickly snaps as both Trag and Micayla figure out how Zetithians attract each other and pair up. Good thing Cat [Slave] was around to help out or they’d still be clueless (which makes sense because they didn’t grow up on their planet and most of their species was murdered when their home planet was destroyed.) Speaking of which the Zetithians find out who did it and make plans to go after the guy… do they succeed? Read Hero to find out!

Who are the hottest men in the universe? Zetithians! Once you go kitty-cat you’ll never go back.
