Emily Sutton is adopted and this fact completely forms her whole character, making her just a tad too one dimensional for me but the idea is solidly presented. Because of her background she is sure the only way to please and not embarrass her adoptive parents is to be perfect without a hint of anything scandalous. She is used to concealing her true emotions and is resultantly prim. She is considered by many a man to be the Ice Princess of St. Antonio.

The story starts with her engaged to Michael Chambers. Without fail he is a royal asshole but Emily doesn’t know it. Yet. He’s a politician campaigning to become the next governor of Texas and with just 36 hours before their wedding decides to dump her citing everything but the truth. Oh and he was also having an affair behind her back, something she never finds out so it’s kind of pointless information.

Jordan Chambers, who has been interested in Emily since the very first moment of meeting her offers to stand in as groom, to keep up appearances which of course is not his true reasoning at all. He’s a furniture designer/entrepreneur. Unfortunately for him, he is mislabeled as the black sheep of the Chamber family when really he’s just independent and refuses to kowtow to his mother. He must prove his innocence and ignorance also concerning a situation of morality to the heroine - something he's more than willing to do if given half a chance.

It’s a fairly cute story and one I'd recommend to anyone looking for a case of switched grooms.

Keira's favorite type of heroes are blind, scarred, and tortured... yes, she understands those should be separate, but all 3 at once is also nice! She enjoys historical romances best and adores audio books because great narrators turn books into auditory/mental movies (and she loves her romantic dramas like Pride and Prejudice/North and South!) Well the hero and heroine in this one claimed they’d fallen madly in love behind the hero’s brother’s back and simply couldn’t not marry each other. Even though it wasn’t true – at least from the heroine’s pov.
