Do people tell you that you look like a famous celebrity? Have you ever been asked for an autograph? For me that’d be yes to the first and no to the second. I think it would be cool though!

Veronica Czaplicki (or Zap by those who can’t make heads or tails on how to pronounce her last name) is a single divorced mom who struggles to make ends meet. She’s a doormat when it comes to her neighbor/landlord, always taking her bratty kids to and from school so the woman doesn’t even have to get dressed in the morning. They make her late constantly and her substituting job is in jeopardy because of it.

On her thirtieth birthday she goes out with her best friend Nina and her not-friend but designated driver Terri. A random woman comes over to scold her about her eating habits and then totally flips out when discovering that Veronica is not her celeb client Haley Rush.

Almost immediately afterwards Haley’s manager shows up and also does a double take. Jake is quick to offer Veronica a job acting as Haley’s double in public. Hair, clothes, lights, cameras, celebrities, could it be any more fabulous? Veronica accepts only to find out her dream job may not be so ideal… even if heartthrob Brady Ellis gets thrown into the mix.

The writing style is smooth and easy and funny if a little predictable with the Hollywood stereotyping. Still, it’s cute and entertaining even as Veronica’s life turns into one big mess as life as a celebrity double jeopardizes her career, her friendships, and her relationship with her son.

Rating: ★★★½☆

Keira's favorite type of heroes are blind, scarred, and tortured... yes, she understands those should be separate, but all 3 at once is also nice! She enjoys historical romances best and adores audio books because great narrators turn books into auditory/mental movies (and she loves her romantic dramas like Pride and Prejudice/North and South!)
