Same here when it comes to other authors. When I hit a dud it makes me sad.

This is one of a few Crusies (mostly old category romances) that I didn’t enjoy. I always enjoy her sense of humor, but this book had too much that was trite, and not enough depth to the characters. OTOH she’s also written some of my favorite romances ever, which makes it all the more disappointing when I don’t care for one of her books!

I tried Manhunting out a few years ago. I definitely agree with you about the characters being flat. Beyond that, I really don’t remember much about it.
