One of my favorite parts about this novel was how it ended. There wasn’t a long drawn out big misunderstanding though the situation had every look at one. I love smart characters and both the hero and heroine of My Own Personal Soap Opera are smart and are perfectly able to solve their own problems. I also liked that some of the loose threads were deliberately not finished off so I could fill in my own ending concerning some prominent side characters. They are so getting sacked in my ending, but I’m not very nice when it comes to stuff like that. (Just another reason why someone hasn’t written me up as a romance heroine! lol
)
I also loved how Libby handled the love triangle. Both potential heroes are set up very nicely. In the beginning, one comes across all wrong and seemingly lacks that important something that could thrust him to the forefront of hero-dom. The other should be the hero based on several traits but is deftly handled and proven to be all wrong. Without even knowing it readers are rooting for the real hero. I wholly recommend this romance to fans of love triangles and those who list the plot device under their pet peeves. You’ll not be disappointed. Trust me!
Frankie is the head writer at Lust for Life, a fading soap opera that could be cancelled at any moment because of low ratings and diminishing demographic shares. She’s highly skilled at writing the long story arcs and weaving every character’s individual arcs into a unified and interesting whole. Her problems are with management – not only her absent boss, but also dealing with her subordinates—especially her secretary.
If that weren’t enough her ex-husband, Brian, is recently published. A character in his book is based and named after her and Frankie is in a panic. Everyone seems to be moving to greener pastures and she’s wondering why she too hasn’t written her own Great American Novel.
As she tries to figure out her personal life and keep Lust going, she finds herself interested in two men associated with the soap. She can’t decide between them and is worried about picking another Brian. She doesn’t want another Brian. She’s not looking to mold a guy into being upstanding and outstanding. He has to come that way.
Her choices are Victor, the handsome older executive behind the scenes who works with her to make Lust into something great or Luke the young leading man and heartthrob who draws in viewers with his steely jaw and brooding prince charm. Who would you choose?
