Partners in CrimeReviewed by Karin

Partners in Crime promises to be a good series. It is the first in Katy Munger's Hubbert & Lil mystery series, writing as Gallagher Gray.

T.S. Hubbert has just retired from Sterling and Sterling, a private bank, but he doesn’t even get to enjoy his first day of retirement. Almost immediately he is called back to the office to help control the chaos when one of the bank’s partners is found dead, his body staged.

Hubbert's 84 year old aunt, a character in her own right, as unstoppable as Auntie Mame, prods him to solve the case, even as she gets involved. It makes you want to say, I want to be Auntie Lil when I grow up.

A fun, traditional light mystery with humor!

Karin likes solidly written romances that are heavy on the romantic suspense. She loves it when the good guy triumphs over the bad guy. She's not a fan of historical period romances in general, a duke in tight breeches makes her grimace. That said, she will read one every now and then to shake things up so long as she can immediately return to the land of contemporary crime solving heroes and heroines.
