I am a big fan of Lisa Kleypas. I love her historicals. I heard about her contemporaries. I wanted to give them a try, but I was afraid I wouldn't love them as much as I do her historicals. Contemporary novels and I have had our fair share of issues in the past. So I waited, and waited, and waited, until I finally found it in the library. Then I snatched it so fast, it made the other patrons' heads spin.

I laughed, and chuckled, and giggled, out loud and in my head all the way through the book. Kleypas wrote a gem when she wrote Smooth Talking Stranger. I can't possibly say enough good things about this book. The dialogue was witty, the leads had phenomenal chemistry, the path from singledom to motherhood and coupledom was breathtaking and sweet.

When I finished the book, I closed with a blissful sigh and one thought running through my head... must own my very own copy. I wanted to sing praises about this book to the nearest person I could find -- and I did. It happened to be my mother. She's now borrowing it from the library.

I'm so thrilled to be converted to the dark side (contemporaries). I've put my name on the hold list for Blue-Eyed Devil. I just can't wait to read it. If it's half as good as Smooth Talking Stranger, it's going to be a toe-curling and very yummy read indeed.

The book pits a high society Texan playboy against a woman who has no use for his charm, wealth, or position other than forcing him to admit he's the father of her sister's new baby.

Keira's favorite type of heroes are blind, scarred, and tortured... yes, she understands those should be separate, but all 3 at once is also nice! She enjoys historical romances best and adores audio books because great narrators turn books into auditory/mental movies (and she loves her romantic dramas like Pride and Prejudice/North and South!) IMHO you’ve got to read “Sugar Daddy” before you read “Blue-Eyed Devil”! I hadn’t read any of Lisa Kleypas’s books before and although I was told by our romance bookseller that you could read “Blue-Eyed Devil” on it’s own, I’m glad I bought both and read them in order. It gave me a chance to really understand Hardy and chart his “growth” as a character. He doesn’t get his happy ending in “Sugar Daddy” but hell, I was rooting for him! And it made B-E D all the sweeter for me. *sighs and resolves to re-read both asap*

I agree with Maree! Read Sugar Daddy first! It will make the fabulous Blue-Eyed Devil even better for you. I ADORE these books. I’m just finishing Lisa’s Wallflower series and I don’t want it to end. Sigh…. She’s an amazing writer.

Thanks Maree and Marie! I’ll definitely do that! I like reading books in order. Will go see if Sugar Daddy is available in the library when I go out and run errands!

you’re brave, it’s always a tricky one trying something different from a fave. Glad it worked out well.

I am pleased. I can’t wait to read her others. Do you read contemporaries or historicals?

I agree with the others *g* You are going backward. But yep – before reading BED, you have to read Sugar Daddy. Of the three – my favourites go

1. Blue Eyed Devil
2. Sugar Daddy
3. Smooth Talking Stranger

Well, all of this is a HUGE relief for me — I’ve got both Sugar Daddy and Blue Eyed Devil on order. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, particularly as I’m the ONLY person in North American who didn’t like Dreaming of You. Twice! (Bought a copy, DNF, forgot. Then when someone online raved about it, I bought another copy, DNF – - and promptly found the first copy.)
