Start Me Up SargentiReviewed by Sandra Scholes

Anthologies of short erotic love stories usually contain very similar themes, but these are an exception. Within these pages you will find a collection of short stories that are as different as you would think. From handsome, rough edged jungle men, to vampires who just want to have fun, readers will find it all here and more. Interestingly, there are two vampire tales in this. I wondered at first why, but when you think about it, it's pretty obvious. People love vampires, reading about them in unusual situations, they convey romantic and deeply sexual attraction, and these are two of the best here.

The different story themes are what make this anthology a fun read for all, as everyone's desires are catered to. They are short and as a result, sweet and can be read in one sitting so there is no room for those feelings of boredom you get when reading an anthology that goes on far too long with one or two stories-these are all of even length and have one which is a two-parter. But even that isn’t too long.

Jeff of the Jungle has the gay and straight interest themes. Sargenti draws the reader in with this one, and it's a story that makes for a good starting point for her work with the newfound addition to a scientists laboratory - the guy named Jeff is just what he's expected to be: sensual, sexual and well-hung (a certain girl wants him straight away.) If only she can get him away from Gale, a guy who wants him as much as she does! Persistence is a nice short one that will leave you giggling way after you have read it. Some read like poetry, Knife Play, while others enhance whatever erotic thoughts you might be thinking while you take in the stories, Alpha Dog and What Hit Me.

A novel like this is excellent to take with you on short or long journeys and you don't have to wait for an ending to come - it will rather quickly and you won't be complaining. They are erotic but in a simplified way, and they catered to my interest in short fiction. Short and sweet is one way to enjoy them, but you can enjoy them in bed too. They are great for those in short supply of manly ravishment.

Sandra delights in immersing herself in anything period romance, says that supernatural romance novels have a tendency to grasp her in a way that some don't, and thinks GLBT romances have that extra something and show a different way of how people of the same sex find love and try to keep it. She likes a wide variety of novels and is interested in reading stories, and in some cases, the shorter the better. Romance of all genres can keep her interest, but she finds that the Regency period is one of her firm favourites. Learn more about Sandra in her Reader Highlight.

Hi, Sandra. Thank you for this most awesome review of my book. A lot of people complained that the stories were too short, but they are flash fiction stories I’ve written over the past two or three years. I’m so glad to find someone who actually gets it. I hope you’ll check me out and check into some of my other work. Best, Angie

Hi Angela. You are very welcome – I actually tend to prefer flash fiction to standard fiction sometimes, and these were right up my alley so to speak. I would love to check out your other works some time. Best, Sandie
