Guest blog by Shawntelle Madison, author of Repossessed
My latest release, Repossessed , is a zany paranormal romance with urban fantasy elements featuring witches and warlocks. When I wrote the story, I couldn’t help but imagine seeing the Asian actor Bi Rain as Rob and Jessica Alba as Tessa. I’d definitely want a nice special effects budget for the spellcasting and the creatures you’d find in my book.
In the spirit of books to movie adaptations, I thought I’d share my favorites from 2013 and what I’m looking forward to watching in 2014.
- World War Z: I loved the movie! Okay, I will admit, I love Brad Pitt, too. Fast-moving zombies are crazy scary, yet awesome. Seeing the way Brad Pitt did anything to protect his family was easy to relate to also.
- Catching Fire: I have read all the Hunger Games books. All of them. So I was so excited to watch Catching Fire and I wasn’t disappointed. If you liked the first movie you will like the second. Seeing the book brought to life made me eagerly open my wallet at the theater.
- The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones: I was initially concerned that this would be another Twilight movie, but the movie was actually entertaining and the special effects were great. If you’re a fan of the series you’ll love the movie.
- So what about 2014? In 2014 I want to watch the Maze Runner (I can’t wait! I can’t wait!), Divergent, Gone Girl, and the Fault is in our Stars adaptation. I’m also stoked about Horns from Joe Hill.
So what book adaptations do you want to watch that I didn’t mention?
GIVEAWAY: Leave a comment to let me know if you’re a book hoarder. A winner will be chosen on January 28th for a Coveted swag pack.
