by Kathryne Kennedy, guest blogger and author of The Fire Lord's Lover
Thank you so much for having me back at Love Romance Passion, Keira. It’s one of my favorite places to be! I do hope you and your readers enjoy the following post I put together for my upcoming release, The Fire Lord’s Lover, book one in my brand new series, The Elven Lords:
Reason Number Ten: He lives in a magical eighteenth century England, where seven elven lords rule with the power of their scepters. Dominic is a half-breed, with enough elven blood to make him beautiful…and deadly. He lives with forbidden secrets, a Rebellion determined to destroy the elven lords, mysterious dragons, deliciously dark desires and a world ruled by the pageantry of the era, where only the strongest love can prevail.
Reason Number Nine: If you love tortured heroes, you’ll fall in love with Dominic. Fearful of his growing magical powers, his father has tested him with fire since he was a lad. His father destroyed anyone that Dominic ever loved, forcing Dominic to become very, very scarred…and to isolate himself emotionally from others.
Reason Number Eight: If you love arranged marriages, you’ll enjoy the budding relationship between Dominic and his assassin bride, Lady Cassandra Bridges. Dominic needs a wife to breed a new champion, and Lady Cassandra seems the perfect choice. But what he doesn’t know is that the convent she grew up in taught her more than how to be a proper wife—the Rebellion secretly trained her as an assassin to murder his father.
Reason Number Seven: Dominic is scarred because at his very core, he has a heart too gentle for the world he was born in. It will take some time for you to uncover the true man beneath his hard-won defenses, but the most difficult challenges are often the most gratifying.
Reason Number Six: He is a military man, with the proud bearing and the authoritative manner of a general…and a champion of the elven war games. Most of the time you will find Dominic in velvet black clothing, a sword at his side, a black cloak billowing behind him.
Reason Number Five: His best friend and confidant is a dragon.
Reason Number Four: He’s an elven half-breed, which means he has the beauty of the elven with the heart and soul of a human. He possesses strength and stamina beyond an ordinary man’s, which means he has never known a woman that he couldn’t satisfy.
Reason Number Three: Dominic is different than your run-of-the-mill hero. He has long thick white-blond hair, with the silver sparkle of the elven lords. He has midnight black eyes, faceted like jewels, a face that resembles an archangel’s but a devilishly delicious mouth. Lustrous skin over a graceful muscular frame hardened by battle. And pointed ears. Adorable, pointed ears.
Reason Number Two: His magical gift is fire. There are several levels of fire magic that he has inherited from his father. The white, which is cold and harmless. The blue fire, which can heal. The red that burns powerfully and the neutral gray that creates an impenetrable wall. And then there is the yellow, which is gently warm against the skin and can be crafted to resemble anything he can imagine. He can play it like a musician can play an instrument…aah, what Dominic can do with yellow fire…
And the Number One Reason you will fall in love with Dominic is: He’s so incredibly addictive, like your favorite candy bar. You will long for just one more bite.
It’s pretty obvious that I fell in love with my hero from The Fire Lord’s Lover. Is there a particular reason that appeals to you? Or what do you look for in romance heroes? I’d love to hear your thoughts, and I’ll be checking in today to respond to any comments.
My magical best,
Kathryne

THE FIRE LORD’S LOVER BY KATHRYNE KENNEDY—IN STORES JULY 2010
Kathryne Kennedy's historical fantasy romances have garnered awards and a growing readership. This exciting new series, set against the lavish backdrops of Georgian and Victorian England so beloved by romance readers, is deliciously dark and exciting.
Fighting for control of a kingdom that is split into seven domains, Elven warlords use their human slaves to breed an endless supply of soldiers for their armies. Dominic Raikes, the half-blood son of the Elven Lord himself is one such warrior. Betrothed to Lady Cassandra, who has been raised in a convent to keep her pure, he little suspects that she's been secretly trained as an assassin to murder his father. Dominic and Cassandra soon discover that each one is not what they seem, but the price of trust may be their very lives, and the destruction of the magical realm each is desperately trying to save…

Good Morning, Keira! Great to be here today and I’m looking forward to talking with everyone!
Hi Kathryne,
I love your Top 10 list, I especially like Reasons 9, 7, 6 & 5! A tortured, scarred, military man who is best buds with a dragon. I envy your creativity.
I confess that while I am a voracious historical romance reader I am a newbie to the fantasy element. The Fire Lord’s Lover sounds wonderfully adventurous & passionate. I definitely want to get my hands on this one.
Thanks for blogging!
That’s so great to hear, Scorpio! I hope you enjoy the fantasy elements with the historical. And it’s my pleasure to be here today.:} My best!
Anyone who has a dragon for a best friend is tops in my book.
Those are all great reasons to fall in love with Dominic. Number 9, 7, and 5 are really good, but I’m partial to #3. Blond, muscular, jewel-like eyes, and pointed ears…I’d swoon for sure!
Hi Kathryne. I love your list. The Fire Lord’s Lover sounds good.
I like reason number 2. I’ve always been fascinated by fire, being a fire sign – Aries. It would be great to read about what this hero can do with fire!!
Enjoy your day and hope many more readers join in here!
I would love to read this book!
Katheryne, I am so glad to hear you have a new series started & THE FIRE LORD’S LOVER, book 1 of the series is out. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I have read:
BENEATH THE THIRTEEN MOONS, DOUBLE ENCHANTMENT, ENCHANTING THE BEAST & ENCHANTING THE LADY.
I enjoyed reading every one of them. I know this series will be 1 that will be hard to put down once I start reading it.
Reading your reasons is just making it so I want to get started reading the book now. However I haven’t found it at any of the stores around here yet. I’ll keep looking.
Thank you for the e-mail. I would love to read this book. Have a great weekend!
I already ordered the book from bn.com, so don’t enter me in the contest.
I am really looking forward to reading it–it has so many elements that appeal to me. I do love a tortured hero and one with magical power and pointed ears is even better. The wife who is more than she seems at first sounds intriguing and who can resist a dragon?
Wishing you big sales!
Anytime you can compare a hero with a candy bar I’m intrigued.
oh!! i will LOVE dominic…who can resist an assassin wife? and different types of fire? VERY Cool. i’ve always loved your books – your heroes and heroines are just too wonderful for words. YAY!!
thank you!
Your discriptions of the hero have really drawn me into this hero/story. I have also never read any fantasy stories, although I do love historicals, but your discriptions makes me want to read it.
I initially thought this was a fantasy, but it went on my wishlist as soon as I read the synopsis. A tortured and scarred hero who plays with fire and whose best friend is a dragon – wow, it has just moved to the top of the list (and then you had to mention the pointy ears! LOL).
So what made you decide to make elves your lead characters?
I have been waiting forever it seems to read this. The sneak peek of chapter 1+2 that i read is superb. Great job Kathryne!

Is this where I enter? Received your E-mail blast. Would love to read your book, even if I don’t win.
I’ve been trying to follow you on your tour and am enjoying hearing all about your book. I’m pretty new to this genre but it’s fascinating. I’ve always liked dragons and heroes with swords

Kathyrne,
I can’t wait to jump into the world you’ve created with your new book, The Fire Lord’s Lover! I have read all your previous books and throughly enjoyed each and every one of them. Keep up the good work!
Deb
Sounds so interesting! Mixing history and fantasy sparks my interest. I would love to read The Fire Lord’s Lover!
I have been eagerly waiting for this book to come out. Loved the sneak peeks of ch 1 and 2. Your top 10 reasons list is awesome. I have to love a guy whose best friend is a dragon. If the book is anything like the previous enchantment series it will become one of my new favorites. Hope to get it soon.
The concept and the characters are so interesting and the writing in the excerpt teaser I read was so excellent, that I think this new series, ‘The Elven Lords’ will be your best yet! I can’t wait to read this!
Wonderful reasons. I loved him. Wonderful tortured hero and I loved his dragon friend too. I love the magic and above all, I just love the story.
Sounds like a great book Kathryne. I have to admit I’m intrigued by a man that’s as addictive as chocolate.
Great Top 10. Couldn’t decide on a favorite. LOVE your books. Keep up the great work.
Looking foward to a great read, even better if I win one.
Hi JenM! The Fire Lord’s Lover is a fantasy, and a historical, and above all, a romance. I hope you enjoy this new twist to your historicals. Thank you so much for commenting!
Hi Jennifer! So glad you enjoyed the excerpt…and thank you!
Hi again Catslady! I’ve really enjoyed hearing from you on my tour. And you like the same things that I do, so I hope you enjoy TFLL.
Best wishes in winning the book, ladies!
Hi Kathryne,
Your books are on my auto-buy list so I am I sure will love The Fire Lord’s Lover too. The new storyline sounds sooo very interesting.
Kathryne,
I LOVE your Relics of Merlin series. How did I miss this series? I’m going to the store!!
Becky
Wow, The Fire Lord’s Lover looks like my kind of book. I can’t wait to read it!
Ok, I have to be honest when I say this. You had my attention at the words elfin lord. I’ve always had a thing for guys with pointed ears!
As for the reasons why I think I’ll like this book I’m particularly fond of reasons 1,3,5,7,9, and10. Reason nine is a particular favorite of mine, never met a tortured hero I didn’t like!
I personally think that elves or sidhe spend much time in the literary spotlight, hope fully this book will start a trend!
Good luck with it!
That was supposed to that they don’t spend much time in the spotlight! Sorry, again good luck with your new book!
I love the way you blend the elements of historical and fantasy together. I’ve read others of your books (over and over) and am really looking forward to being able to get this one. Keep ‘em coming!
I can’t wait for this book to come out! I love your books so much that I even got my husband reading them
Thank you for sharing an excerpt, it was fun to read, even though it makes the wait that much harder!

I LOVE THIS BOOK
living in London does bring this book home to me…
Another point for Dominic – he makes a whole lot of hearts race when he steps into a room – Male and female alike…
Congrats on the release Kathryne… wonderful book.
Love him…
Dom sounds very interesting, to say the very least
What I look for in a hero is someone who knows who he is and isn’t affraid of himself or his emotions. I want someone who has enough strength to go after what he wants, but also isn’t so dominating that he crushes the spirits of those around him.
I don’t want much really … just the perfect man LOL
I look forward to reading Dom’s story though
Angi
Oh, my. So great to hear you fell in love with him, too, Erotic Horizon! Thanks a million for leaving such a fabulous comment. It wil make my weekend. :}
Sounds like a cool read, neat that you decided to blend historical romance and a bit of fantasy. : )
Hi Kathryne,
congrats.
I love all that’s included in your book:The Fire Lord’s Lover is a fantasy, and a historical, and above all, a romance.
Thanks,
Dina
That’s great to hear, Dina! Thanks so much for the kind comment!
Kathryne, What inspires you?
well he will be good for at least keeping you warm at night in more ways than one but will he be there for the long run you have to be a very special lady to capture this one–thanks for the notice on the book now i can start the collection
Ooh..a dragon confidant, can’t wait to read what those conversations are about. I love that your books combine two of my favorite genres in such a unique and fascinating fashion. Thank you and keep them coming!
This sounds like a fantastic book and definitely a hero who sounds like he would become one of my favorites! And I adore the cover! He looks exactly the way you described!
Hi Kathryne cannot wait to get my hands on this one. I have been a fan since the first Relics of Merlin and it just keeps getting better and better!
I’ve been in the mood for a change and I think I’ve found it! ‘The Fire Lord’s Lover’ has an exciting hero who has a dragon as a best friend. When you combine that with the magical gift of fire and his pointed ears like Mr. Spock, I can’t resist. I think you have a winner. I can hardly wait to read this book.
Congrats on your release! Love all the reasons and more about the book. I’m a dragon lover so this is just up my street! Thanks!
tamsyn5@yahoo.com

Hi Kathryne, Loved this info about your book. Sounds amazing, and would love to have the chance to read it. Keep writing. You do an amazing job.
The line “Black panties with an angel’s face” is what comes to mind describing Dominic. From the Steve Miller song Abracadabra. For me it just lines right up. I can’t wait to read his story, it sound fascinating. Being a good “book junkie” I’m hooked. I wish I had a dragon confidant.
A candy bar ? That did it for me for sure.
I can’t wait to get into this book. Congrats Kathryne on the release of this first book in the Elven Lords.

Oh, definitely nine and seven. Nothing grabs me like a tortured and scarred hero! Add mean and surly to the mix and I’m devoted forever…
I have always had a soft spot for a tortured hero that still has a sense of humor, with a dragon confident I’m guessing it’s likley he’s got wit. I am so impatient to read your book. It sounds FANTASTIC!
